Patna: Bihar’s sitting and former MLAs, along with their dependents, will be eligible for cashless medical treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme from January 2027, Health Minister Nishant Kumar said.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting on Thursday chaired by Bihar Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar and attended by Nishant and senior Health Department officials.
Cashless Treatment Under Ayushman Bharat
Nishant said the cashless system is currently being provided for inpatient treatment. The reimbursement system for outpatient treatment will continue under the existing policy.
Officials also discussed proposals to determine reimbursement limits for treatments provided at government hospitals and private hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The new arrangement is expected to cover eligible dependents of both sitting and former legislators.
Health Schemes In Gaya Reviewed
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of various Health Department schemes in Gaya district.
Officials were directed to take necessary steps regarding the licensing of the Manjhi Eye Hospital Center in Gaya.
Preparations For Pitru Paksha Mela
Preparations for the Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya, scheduled from September 25 to October 10, were also reviewed.
Officials discussed arrangements for special health camps and other medical services for pilgrims expected to arrive from different parts of India and abroad during the annual event.
