Patna: Authorities in Bihar have uncovered a case of fraud involving the wife of CPI-ML MP Sudama Prasad, after her government-allotted shop was illegally sold using forged documents.
The shop in question, located in Bartand, Dhanbad district, had been officially allotted in 1994 to Shobha Devi, now the wife of Ara MP Sudama Prasad. According to officials, the property was transferred through a fake power of attorney to another person, who then took possession of it.
When Devi discovered the fraudulent transaction, she lodged a complaint with the district administration. An investigation by the Zila Parishad confirmed the use of forged papers, following which the shop was cleared of illegal occupation in the presence of a magistrate and police and subsequently sealed.
DDC Sadat Anwar said the shop was allotted to Devi under her maiden name in the 1990s, and action was taken after her complaint revealed that it was being run by Arjun Kumar, a local resident, without authorisation.
