Patna: A private school teacher was shot dead by three men riding a motorcycle near Sigrampur in the Dhanarua police area of Patna on Tuesday evening. The victim, Ramchandra Yadav, 55, also known as Guruji, was the brother of Mahesh Prasad, a ward member of Chhati Panchayat.
According to reports,Ramchandra was returning home on his bicycle after delivering milk in Aashraypur village when the attackers opened fire, hitting him once in the chest and once in the stomach. He died on the spot.
Villagers expressed anger over the delayed police response, claiming officers arrived an hour after being informed of the incident. Many allege that criminals act with impunity due to limited police patrolling in the area.
Authorities confirmed that the same perpetrators had previously fired shots a week earlier, which had been reported to police, but no arrests were made. Following protests from the local community, officers from multiple police stations, including the DSP, arrived at the scene and took custody of the body.
City SP Parichay Kumar said the investigation is ongoing. The motive for the killing remains unclear, and raids are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
