Patna: Patna is witnessing a sharp rise in dengue infections, with 12 new cases reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of patients in the city to 312. Health authorities have warned that school children are particularly vulnerable, as rainwater remains stagnant in several school premises.
Areas such as Kankarbagh, Patna City, Boring Canal Road, Jakkanpur, Digha, Gola Road, Jaganpura, Pataliputra, Phulwarisharif, and Danapur have been identified as hotspots, prompting intensified source-control, awareness, and fogging campaigns.
Most of the new patients are aged between 14 and 34, highlighting the risk to students and young adults. Civil Surgeon Avinash Kumar Singh urged residents to eliminate standing water at home and school, change water in coolers and containers every three to four days, wear full-sleeve clothing, and use mosquito repellents. He advised anyone experiencing fever, body ache, pain behind the eyes, or rashes to seek immediate testing.
