Patna: Registering new vehicle models in Bihar is set to become easier after the Transport Department abolished the requirement for manufacturers to obtain separate ‘integrated registration approval’ from the department headquarters.
The change takes immediate effect and is expected to simplify the registration process for vehicle manufacturers and dealers.
Central Type Approval To Be Sufficient
Under the new order, manufacturers will no longer need separate permission from the Transport Department headquarters for registering new vehicle models.
The department said Type Approval Certificates for new vehicle models are issued by central agencies authorised under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. Further registration proceedings can now be undertaken on the basis of this certificate.
Manufacturers will have to submit the Type Approval Certificate issued by the authorised central agency along with Form-22.
District Transport Officers To Process Registration
After receiving the required documents, the District Transport Officer will issue trade certificates and register the vehicles in accordance with the applicable rules.
The department said no separate approval from its headquarters would be required at this stage.
Decision Based On 2020 MoRTH Letter
The Transport Department said the decision was taken in accordance with provisions outlined in a November 24, 2020, letter issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The latest order also modifies any earlier letters and orders issued by the department to the extent necessary to bring them in line with the new procedure.
