Patna: The Bihar government has sanctioned three major infrastructure projects worth a total of Rs 75 crore to improve road connectivity in Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, and East Champaran districts. The announcement was made by the state’s Road Construction Minister, Nitin Nabin, who highlighted that the initiatives aim to enhance transportation safety and efficiency for local communities.
In East Champaran, an approach road to a high-level reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridge will be constructed, beginning at the Government Polytechnic College in Motihari, passing behind the firing range, and extending to Majuraha on the left bank of the Dhanauti River. This project is estimated to cost Rs 29.77 crore.
Darbhanga district will see the widening and strengthening of a 4.40 km stretch from Shivdara to Harpur Chowk, with a budget allocation of Rs 19.27 crore. Meanwhile, the Sisola-Basant Patti road in Sitamarhi district, spanning 7.44 km, will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 27.04 crore.
Speaking at the announcement, Nabin credited the “double engine” leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for accelerating Bihar’s development agenda. He noted that improved road infrastructure would benefit education, healthcare, trade, and tourism while providing safer and more convenient travel for residents. “These projects will positively impact lakhs of people and propel Bihar to new heights of development in the coming years,” the minister said.
