Patna: Patna Police have arrested a young man for making social media reels with a country-made pistol in Patna City’s Sultanganj area. The accused, identified as 21-year-old Mohammad Hasan of Ambedkar Colony, was caught red-handed while recording the videos. Acting on a tip-off, police reached the spot and took him into custody. During the arrest, officers recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges, which have been sealed as evidence.
Police sources said Hasan had developed a passion for taking selfies and shooting reels with weapons. His aim was to gain popularity by posting these videos on social media. Officials confirmed that initial investigation shows he is not connected to any gang and has no previous criminal history. The case has shocked the local community, with many concerned about the trend of youngsters seeking attention through risky stunts.
Hasan belongs to a small business family and is the only son of his parents. His family said they had no knowledge of his activities and were taken by surprise when they heard about his arrest. They have claimed during questioning that he is innocent and that this was merely a misguided attempt at making videos.
Police are now investigating where Hasan obtained the weapon and whether any criminal group was involved in supplying it. Officials have stated that strict action will be taken if any larger network is found connected to the case. Authorities have also appealed to youngsters not to engage in dangerous acts for social media fame, reminding them that such behaviour can have serious legal consequences.
