Bihar Offers 1,711 Assistant Professor Positions in Medical Colleges – A Chance to Shape the Future of Healthcare

Patna : The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has launched a major recruitment drive for 1,711 Assistant Professor positions across 25 specialty departments in the state’s medical colleges and hospitals. Online applications for these posts will be accepted until May 7.

The recruitment covers a wide range of specialties, with positions available in departments such as Anatomy, Anesthesia, Biochemistry, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Radiology, and many more. The detailed application information, along with the link to submit applications, can be found on the BPSC website.

A Diverse Range of Specialties

The available positions span across numerous specialties, including:

  • Anatomy: 69 posts
  • Anesthesia: 125 posts
  • Biochemistry: 60 posts
  • Ophthalmology: 64 posts
  • Orthopedics: 76 posts
  • Gynecology and Obstetrics: 120 posts
  • Psychiatry: 63 posts
  • Pediatrics: 106 posts
  • Radiology: 73 posts
  • Emergency Medicine: 74 posts

Additionally, there are openings in departments such as Pathology, Radiotherapy, Sports Medicine, and Geriatrics, among others.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on their academic qualifications and performance in an interview. The BPSC has outlined a clear marking system: candidates will receive points for academic achievements such as MBBS, MD, MS, PhD, and work experience. A maximum of 6 marks will be awarded for the interview. To qualify, candidates must score a minimum of 18 marks.

The BPSC has also clarified that, as per recommendations from the Medical Council of India, specific marks will be awarded for qualifications such as MD, MS, MDS, and PhD. In addition, up to 10 marks will be given for work experience in the government sector.

Extension for Pharmacist Posts

In related news, the Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has extended the application deadline for the recruitment of 2,473 pharmacists in the Health Department. The new deadline for online applications is April 16. Applicants who have not yet received their registration certificates from the Bihar State Pharmacy Council will be given additional time to apply.

For further details and to apply for the Assistant Professor or Pharmacist positions, candidates are encouraged to visit the respective commission websites before the closing dates.

🔎 Motive revealed during investigation
Police arrested Vikas alias Bhanu, Sagar Kumar, and Golu, all friends of the victim. During interrogation, they confessed to killing Pankaj over suspicion of an illicit relationship.

📍 How the crime was executed
Pankaj Kumar was called late at night behind Infant Jesus School on the pretext of a liquor party. He was attacked with a sharp iron weapon, killed on the spot, and his body was later dumped into the Ganga River to destroy evidence.
