Patna: The Bihar government has taken another step towards digital services by launching an online booking system for tourists and pilgrims. On Friday, state tourism minister Raju Kumar Singh inaugurated the new facility at the Chief Secretariat in Patna. The service will allow people to book cab rides as well as Pitru Paksha Mela packages directly through the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) website. Senior officials, including tourism secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh and BSTDC general manager Chandan Chauhan, attended the launch.
With this facility, anyone can now book a wide range of vehicles — from regular cars to larger travellers and caravans — from anywhere in the country. Officials said the system is designed to make travel within Bihar more convenient and trustworthy. The tourism minister stressed that this step would help visitors plan their journeys in advance and avoid last-minute difficulties.
A special feature of the launch is the online booking of packages for the annual Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya. This religious event attracts thousands of devotees who come to perform pind daan, or ancestral rituals, for their forefathers. The tourism department has created different travel packages that cover both transportation and assistance with religious ceremonies. For devotees who cannot travel on their own, additional support services have been arranged so that they can complete the rituals with ease.
The minister also reminded that Bihar has already introduced online ticketing for the Rajgir ropeway. He announced that in the coming days, hotel bookings and other tourism-related facilities will also be added to the digital system. According to officials, the aim is to connect Bihar’s traditional heritage and religious events with modern technology, ensuring visitors enjoy smooth travel and better services.
Tourism authorities believe the move will not only help pilgrims but also boost Bihar’s image as a welcoming destination for travellers. By offering online cab services and pilgrimage packages, the state hopes to attract more people from across India and abroad, combining faith with comfort and technology.
