MADHEPURA: The national president of Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik), Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, led party activists in the second phase of protests, advocating for special status for the regions of Kosi, Seemanchal, and Mithilanchal. On Tuesday, a one-day hunger strike was organized at the local art building under the leadership of district president Mohan Mandal.
Addressing the fasting program, Pappu Yadav emphasized that the party has initiated efforts towards the development of Kosi, Seemanchal, and Mithilanchal. The hunger strike marked the second phase of protests, with plans to continue the demonstration in a phased manner until March 4. Post March 4, the agitation will be escalated at Rangbhoomi Maidan in Purnia, persisting until the government accords special status to the mentioned regions.
Pappu Yadav asserted that failing governmental recognition of special status would necessitate a more significant battle, potentially leading to the demand for separate statehood, drawing parallels with the Telangana movement.
In his address, Pappu Yadav commented on the light of the common people, stating that the fight aims at securing a better life for them. He accused the government of perpetuating poverty through corruption, emphasizing that Jan Adhikar Party is the only entity capable of liberating people from the clutches of mafias, criminals, and corrupt officials. He hinted at a transformative period post-2024, promising an end to prevailing fears with the support of the people.
Pappu Yadav remarked that the struggle for Bihar’s well-being can only be championed by Jan Adhikar Party, asserting that no other political entity possesses the audacity to deliver justice. He criticized other parties for allegedly propagating false claims about social justice while diverting public focus to the positions of Prime Minister, Chief Minister, MP, and MLA. He urged the public to shift their perspective towards personal development, anticipating positive transformations in the state and the nation.
Highlighting the underdevelopment of Kosi and Seemanchal, Pappu Yadav accused successive governments, including those led by Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar, of betraying the regions. Despite the BJP’s ten-year tenure at the center, special state status has not been conferred upon Kosi and Seemanchal. Pappu Yadav raised pertinent questions regarding the absence of key infrastructure projects such as a hydel dam in the region, an AIIMS in Saharsa, and a direct and efficient train service connecting Kosi and Seemanchal to major cities across the country.
