Khagaria: A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA from Parbatta and candidate for the upcoming assembly elections, for allegedly threatening a police officer through WhatsApp calls.
According to the complaint filed by Station House Officer (SHO) Arvind Kumar at the Parbatta Police Station in Khagaria district, the MLA called him twice from his mobile number and issued threats after a proposal—identified as CCAA-3—was sent against an individual named Mithilesh Choudhary.
In his written statement, the SHO claimed that Dr. Kumar told him, “Why did my men send a CCAA-3 proposal against Mithilesh Choudhary? This will cause you a lot of trouble and inconvenience.” The officer further alleged that the MLA called again to say, “You have done wrong by sending a CCAA-3 proposal. You will have to face the consequences.”
Arvind Kumar stated that the MLA’s remarks were aimed at intimidating a government official and could potentially influence the forthcoming assembly elections. He also expressed concern that attempts might be made to frame or harm him—mentally or physically—in retaliation.
Authorities said the allegations, if proven true, could be seen as an attempt to obstruct the conduct of free and fair elections in the constituency. Efforts to reach Dr. Sanjeev Kumar for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
