Patna: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Grand Alliance, officially launched his election campaign on Friday, promising a “politics of trust” and pledging to implement all manifesto commitments if elected.
Speaking to reporters before leaving Patna, Yadav said, “I don’t speak incoherently or falsely. If I become Chief Minister, 14 crore Biharis will also become CMs along with me. We will fulfil every promise we have made.” He emphasised that the alliance’s approach was based on transparency rather than “election gimmicks.”
Among the key pledges, Yadav highlighted the promise of providing a government job to every family and introducing a special scheme for the empowerment of Jeevika Didis, women engaged in livelihood programmes. “Our announcements are not election gimmicks. The government may announce anything, but our vision and honesty are different. If we get the chance, every promise will be implemented,” he said.
Yadav also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on law and order in Bihar, questioning why the Prime Minister had not addressed ongoing issues of corruption and crime. “The Prime Minister says there will be no jungle raj in Bihar, but murders are taking place in broad daylight, shootings are occurring, and over 55 scams have been reported,” Yadav said. “Where have the investigations gone? This is the real jungle raj.”
The announcement of Yadav as the Grand Alliance’s CM candidate came at a joint press conference on Thursday, which coincided with the withdrawal of three candidates from the second phase of elections.
Yadav’s campaign schedule includes rallies across Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and Vaishali in Saharsa, aiming to consolidate support for the alliance’s candidates.
Ahead of the polls, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has also released an election song portraying Yadav as a “hardworking warrior” and urging voters to give him a chance. The Grand Alliance is set to release its full election manifesto on October 28.
