Patna: In response to continuous heavy rains from Thursday night to Friday morning, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Budko undertook intensive water drainage operations across the city. Officials reported that water was drained from most areas in record time, with 19 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) remaining on high alert throughout the night.
Drainage was swiftly carried out in several flood-prone localities including Rajendra Nagar, Vidhan Sabha, Mithapur, Sabzibagh, Karbighia, Digha, Gandhi Maidan, and Board Colony. Civic teams installed water pumps in areas like Pataliputra Colony, Pataliputra Station, and Kankarbagh, where drainage had slowed down.
Municipal officials, zonal executive officers, and managers personally monitored operations, ensuring that complaints were addressed promptly. Each sump house was staffed across three shifts, and water levels were tracked continuously via CCTV and walkie-talkie systems.
PMC confirmed that alternative mechanical arrangements were in place across all zones to expedite drainage. Residents facing waterlogging are encouraged to contact the helpline 155304. The corporation assured that complaints are typically resolved within a few hours.
