Patna: The Grand Alliance’s Vote Rights Yatra began in Sasaram Today under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, with opposition leaders accusing the BJP of manipulating voter lists and attacking the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi pledged that “at no cost” would votes be stolen in Bihar.
Countering these claims, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary staged a press conference where he displayed a 1991 photograph showing actor Rajesh Khanna casting his ballot while Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi stood beside him. “Have you ever voted like this?” he asked, dismissing the yatra as political theatre.
Samrat alleged that such privileges were reserved only for one family during Congress’s rule, accusing the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty of treating democracy as “pocket property.” He added that Rahul Gandhi’s frustrations stem from no longer enjoying such exemptions.
He further argued that Bihar’s poverty is a result of Congress and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s misrule, accusing both of looting the state. According to Samrat, the public has “blacklisted” the Congress-RJD alliance, and the NDA is set to return to power in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
