Patna: Bihar’s social security pension beneficiaries have received their August 2026 pension payment, with the state government transferring Rs 1,233.87 crore directly into the bank accounts of around 105.68 lakh beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary initiated the payment from Munger on Thursday, September 10. Under the current pension system, eligible beneficiaries receive Rs 1,100 per month.
The payment covers beneficiaries under Bihar’s social security pension schemes, including eligible elderly people, widows and persons with disabilities.
Rs 1,233.87 Crore Transferred Through DBT
The August pension has been transferred electronically so that beneficiaries receive the money directly in their bank accounts. The state government has been following a fixed monthly payment schedule, with the 10th of every month designated as Bihar Pension Day.
The DBT mechanism is intended to make pension payments more transparent and reduce delays associated with physical distribution.
The Bihar Chief Minister’s Office had earlier confirmed that the monthly pension rate was increased to Rs 1,100, with payments being transferred directly to beneficiaries.
How to Check Whether the August Pension Has Arrived
Beneficiaries can check their bank account to confirm whether the Rs 1,100 August pension has been credited.
Check Your Bank SMS
If the mobile number is linked to the bank account, beneficiaries may receive an SMS notification after the payment is credited. Check the registered mobile number for a transaction message.
Update Your Passbook
If no SMS has been received, beneficiaries can visit their bank branch or banking facility and update their passbook. The latest transaction will show whether the pension amount has been credited.
Check Pension Status Online
Beneficiaries can also use Bihar’s Social Security Pension Management Information System (SSPMIS) to check beneficiary-related information. The official portal provides a Beneficiary Status facility along with scheme-wise reports.
What If the Money Is Not Showing in the Account?
If the pension amount is not immediately visible, beneficiaries should first check their bank transaction history and wait for the payment to reflect. They should also ensure that their bank account and registered details are active and correct.
For pension-related status information, beneficiaries can use the official SSPMIS portal, which covers schemes including the Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension and disability pension schemes.
