Patna: A new AI-generated 1980s photo trend has found an unlikely following among Bihar politicians, with several leaders sharing digitally created images that recreate the fashion, cars and visual style associated with the decade.
The trend, inspired partly by the “Angry Young Man” era of Bollywood, has seen politicians transform their social media appearances with vintage settings, retro clothing and old-fashioned vehicles. The images have attracted reactions from followers, with some praising the looks while others responded with light-hearted comments.
Among those joining the trend is Union minister Chirag Paswan took the trend a step further by combining the retro look with a distinctly Bihar setting. His AI-generated image shows him beside an old white Ambassador car, dressed in a brown jacket and trousers. The background includes a Hajipur railway station signboard, a tea stall and an old poster featuring his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, along with the slogan “Bihar First, Bihari First”.
Minister Ashok Choudhary also embraced the retro theme, sharing an AI-generated image featuring a vintage jeep, denim jacket and jeans. The styling gives the picture the appearance of an old Bollywood action-film poster, reflecting the visual language of popular cinema from that period.
Former Bihar deputy chief minister Tarkishore Prasad joined the trend with an AI-generated portrait showing him in a classic grey suit and tie. His post also referred to the 1980s trend, adding to the growing collection of retro-themed images being shared by Bihar politicians.
Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi also shared an AI-generated image in a retro-collar suit, recreating the appearance associated with the fashion of the decade. His post became another example of how the trend has spread across political figures from different generations.
The images are part of a wider social media trend in which users are using artificial intelligence tools to recreate themselves in 1980s-style photographs, complete with vintage vehicles, clothing, hairstyles, film-inspired poses and period backgrounds.
