Patna: Six police personnel from Bihar, including three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, will be honoured with the Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has released the list of awardees, recognising officers for their exemplary contribution to law enforcement. Inspector General Garima Mallik, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Smita Suman, DSP Rajesh Ranjan, Havildar Bimal Chhetri, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashish Ranjan Singh, and Constable Sarvesh Kumar have been named among the recipients.
The medals are conferred annually to police officers across the country for notable service in maintaining law and order, crime prevention, and public safety. This year’s awards will be presented during Independence Day celebrations, marking 78 years since India gained independence in 1947.
