Patna: The Bihar Police Headquarters has taken a major administrative step to strengthen law and order by appointing 32 senior IPS officers as nodal officers for various districts across the state.

Senior officers given key responsibilities

The list includes officers of ADG, IG and DIG ranks. Of these, eight officers have been assigned charge of two districts each, while the remaining 24 officers will oversee one district each.

Among key postings, ADG Nayyar Hasnain Khan has been given charge of Patna, IG Sanjay Kumar will oversee Muzaffarpur, and ADG S Ravindran has been assigned Gaya.

IG Premlata S has been given responsibility for Bhagalpur and Naugachhia.

System continues from last year

Officials said the nodal officer system was introduced last year, under which senior officers visit districts, review policing work and submit reports to the Director General of Police.

Following recent transfers and administrative changes, a revised list has now been issued to make policing more effective.

Monitoring on multiple parameters

Nodal officers will review around 18 key parameters in their assigned districts. These include law and order, pending cases, investigation quality, speedy trials and functioning of police stations.

They will also focus on public grievance redressal, including monitoring public hearings and police-public interaction. Each officer will prepare a detailed monthly report based on inspections and submit it to the DGP, including personal observations and recommendations.

Officials said the move is expected to enhance accountability and improve overall policing standards across districts, ensuring better control over law and order.
