Gaya: A police team conducting a raid in Bihar’s Gaya district was attacked late on Monday night, leaving an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) seriously injured. The incident took place in Kuhri village under the Fatehpur police station area, raising renewed concerns over law and order in the state.
According to police officials, the team had gone to the village following a tip-off related to the illegal liquor trade. During the operation, a group of unidentified individuals launched a violent attack on the officers. ASI Manoj Kumar sustained a deep head injury and was later referred to a hospital in Gaya for treatment. He reportedly received 12 stitches.
The raid was linked to a seizure made the previous day, when police recovered 450 litres of Mahua liquor from an auto-rickshaw in the same village. Monday’s follow-up action turned violent when the suspects allegedly resisted arrest.
The attack has triggered tension in the area. Authorities said a search operation is underway to identify and arrest the assailants.
