Patna: Bihar Police has become one of the most popular police departments in India on social media, securing the third position in the country for total followers. The latest data shows that the force has gained a strong digital presence and now ranks only behind Uttar Pradesh Police and Kerala Police. This marks a major improvement for Bihar Police, which was in fifth place just two years ago. It has now moved ahead of Delhi Police and several other major states, showing how its communication strategy is reaching more people every year.
The total number of followers of Bihar Police across Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube has reached 2.177 million. Last year, this figure was 1.827 million, which means the department added around 350,000 followers in just one year. This increase highlights how the police force is increasingly using digital platforms to share information, issue alerts and connect directly with citizens. Officials say social media has become an important part of public service, especially for spreading awareness about safety, crime prevention and emergency updates.
Facebook remains the strongest platform for Bihar Police. The department has 1.262 million followers there, which places it second in the country on Facebook among police departments. On X, Bihar Police has 553,000 followers, which is more than Kerala Police on the same platform. The YouTube channel has the smallest audience, with 115,000 subscribers, but it continues to grow steadily. The department’s combined reach across all platforms has crossed 448.30 million, showing that its posts and campaigns are being seen by a very large audience across the country.
Within Bihar, Bihar Police is the most followed government department on social media. Bihar School Examination Board is in second place, while the Information and Public Relations Department is in third. The rise of Bihar Police in national rankings shows how government institutions are now depending more on digital communication. With more people turning to social media for updates and information, Bihar Police’s strong online presence is becoming a key way for the department to stay connected with the public.
