Patna: The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) on Thursday escalated its campaign against Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary, unveiling what it claimed to be documentary proof of large-scale property purchases made by his family with illicit funds.
At a press conference at the party’s Patna headquarters, JSP leaders alleged that Choudhary’s wife, Neeta Keskar Choudhary, had bought land worth nearly Rs 7 crore using concealed identities in two deeds registered in 2021 and 2022. “When Prashant Kishor accused Ashok Choudhary of corruption, the ruling party demanded proof. Today, we are presenting that proof,” said JSP state president Manoj Bharti.
Kishore Kumar, the party’s state general secretary, produced land deeds showing multiple acquisitions by Choudhary’s family and the Manav Vaibhav Vikas Trust. He alleged that six properties, bought between March 2021 and July 2022 across Patna, were undervalued on paper at Rs 47 crore despite having a market worth of over Rs 100 crore. “These deals were timed around the wedding of Shambhavi Choudhary and Sayan Kunal,” Kumar claimed, further alleging that Choudhary’s PA, Yogendra Dutt, had been used as a front for bribery-linked property transactions later transferred to Choudhary’s daughter.
JSP leaders also reminded reporters that Neeta Keskar Choudhary is an accused in a Punjab National Bank fraud case pending before the Supreme Court.
The party demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dismiss Ashok Choudhary from his cabinet, citing his earlier removal of ministers over corruption charges. “If the CM fails to act, we will seek legal recourse. But first, we are appealing to the people’s court,” JSP said.
Ashok Choudhary has previously dismissed allegations from Jan Suraaj as baseless, and his camp is expected to issue a formal response in the coming days.
