Patna: Bihar is all set to introduce its own version of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – the Bihar Premier League (BPL) – in 2025. Organised by the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), the league aims to provide a professional platform for emerging cricketers from the state and will feature six franchise teams named after key cities including Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur.

Scheduled to be held in Patna, the matches will be streamed live on JioCinema, offering wide visibility to players and sponsors. The BCA has begun inviting expressions of interest from prospective franchise owners, with a minimum annual bid of Rs 5 crore.

Bidders must show an annual turnover at least three times the bid amount. Franchisees will be required to pay the bid amount in three phases—50% at signing, 25% before the tournament, and the remaining 25% before the final—alongside a Rs 50 lakh refundable security deposit.

A major attraction could be the participation of 14-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Samastipur, who recently scored a 35-ball century in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals, becoming the youngest to do so. His inclusion would boost the tournament’s popularity and inspire young talent across Bihar.
