Patna: The Bihar home department has reviewed the progress of prosecution work across districts in the Patna and Purnea divisions, highlighting a sharp focus on speeding up pending cases and improving the execution of court orders.
The district-wise review was held on January 30 through a video conference chaired by the additional chief secretary of the home department. Officials assessed the status of summons, warrants, proclamations, attachments and case disposals in courts across the two divisions.

According to official data presented at the meeting, authorities executed or served 13,275 summons, 6,000 bailable warrants and 6,096 non-bailable warrants in December 2025. During the same period, 1,198 proclamations and 634 attachments were carried out in the concerned districts. Courts recorded the testimony of 5,123 witnesses.

The review also noted that 8,575 first information reports were registered on the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) platform, while 14,155 cases were disposed of by district courts. Senior officials directed district authorities to raise the execution rate of pending summons and warrants and to fast-track the disposal of long-pending cases, particularly those related to the Arms Act.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the home, law and excise departments, including the special secretary and in-charge director of prosecution, the superintendent of police for law and order at police headquarters, and the joint commissioner of the prohibition, excise and registration department. Senior superintendents of police, public prosecutors and excise superintendents from all concerned districts also participated in the review.
