Patna: The Bihar government is set to provide financial assistance to startups working in the renewable energy sector through the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Fund (BRDF). The initiative aims to encourage innovation in non-conventional power and help entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable market-ready technologies.
Officials said the fund will support startups with access to research laboratories, certification facilities for solar panels and equipment, and resources to run pilot projects. The government plans to prioritise innovation and incubation centres to enable entrepreneurs to scale their technology from pilot to mass production.
The scheme also includes the establishment of skill development centres to create a pool of trained technical manpower for startups. Authorities expect this to boost production capacity, strengthen reliability, and improve employment opportunities across the state.
Energy experts say the fund could position Bihar as a national player in renewable energy. Locally developed green technologies are expected not only to meet the state’s energy needs but also to create new economic opportunities.
