Patna: The Bihar government has withdrawn an order issued on August 19 concerning the Student Credit Card Scheme, restoring the earlier provision under which eligible students can receive education loans of up to Rs 4 lakh.
According to a notification issued by the state’s higher education department, the government reconsidered the changes introduced earlier this month and decided to revoke the order along with the process related to its implementation.
Under the restored arrangement, education loans of up to Rs 4 lakh will continue to be provided through the Bihar State Education Finance Corporation.
Previous Loan Arrangement Restored
The latest decision means that the scheme will continue to operate under the earlier procedure. Students will not be required to apply under the new arrangement introduced through the August 19 order, according to the report.
The withdrawal of the earlier order is expected to remove uncertainty among students who depend on the scheme to finance their higher education.
Relief For Higher Education Students
The Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher and professional education.
The restoration of the Rs 4 lakh loan limit is likely to benefit students from families with limited financial resources who rely on education loans to continue their studies.
The state government has said the earlier arrangement will remain in force following the cancellation of the August 19 order and its associated implementation process.
