Nawada: A revenue officer in Bihar has been caught taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. The officer, Ranjit Kumar, also known as Ranjit Paswan, was arrested by the vigilance team on Friday. He was caught while taking money at the zonal office in Sirdala block of Nawada district.
The complaint was given by Umesh Kumar from Baniyadih village. He had told the vigilance department that the officer was asking for Rs 50,000 to do mutation work for six decimals of land. The vigilance team checked the complaint and then registered a case on July 24.
On Friday, the vigilance team reached the office and caught Ranjit Paswan while taking the bribe. The team took him to Patna for further investigation. Officials said he will be presented in court and then sent to jail as per orders.
This arrest has created panic in the local administration. Officers said that during questioning, more names of people involved in such bribe cases may come out.
