Patna: The Bihar government has simplified the process for landowners interested in selling land for its proposed satellite township project, allowing applications to be submitted at regional offices of the Bihar State Housing Board instead of requiring applicants to travel to Patna.

The move is aimed at making the application process more accessible for landowners, particularly those living in remote districts.

Regional Offices To Accept Applications

Under the revised arrangement, applications will continue to be addressed to the Managing Director of the Bihar State Housing Board, as before.

However, applicants can now submit their documents at designated regional offices, which will forward them to the Housing Board headquarters for further processing.

Officials said the change is expected to reduce travel costs and save time for applicants.

Relief For Landowners Outside Patna

According to Housing Board officials, applications had not been received from several districts because many landowners found it difficult to travel to Patna solely to submit their documents.

The new system is expected to encourage greater participation by removing this logistical hurdle.

Residents from distant districts will no longer have to make long journeys simply to file an application.

Online Portal Under Development

The Housing Board is also working to make the application process fully digital.

Officials said an online portal is being developed with technical support from BELTRON.

Once operational, the portal will allow landowners to submit applications electronically from their homes, making the process faster, more transparent and more convenient.

Satellite Township Plan

The state government plans to develop modern satellite townships near major urban centres to support urban expansion and improve infrastructure.

Officials believe that decentralising the application process, along with the upcoming online system, will encourage more landowners to participate in the project and help accelerate land acquisition for the proposed townships.
