Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in six districts of Bihar on Thursday, warning residents to take precautions as temperatures continue to rise across the state.
The districts under the heatwave alert include Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Gaya, Rohtas (Sasaram), and adjoining areas, where maximum temperatures are expected to range between 38°C and 42°C.
According to weather experts, hot winds from the west and southwest are currently influencing Bihar’s weather, resulting in intense sunshine and steadily increasing daytime temperatures. However, moisture-laden winds over the Seemanchal and Kosi regions are creating conditions favorable for thunderstorms, rainfall, and lightning in isolated areas.
During the past 24 hours, Buxar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 40.6°C, making it the hottest location in Bihar.
Mixed Weather Conditions Expected
Meteorologists have forecast a combination of heatwave conditions and localized thunderstorms over the next few days. While southern and western districts are likely to continue experiencing extreme heat, parts of Seemanchal and Kosi may witness rain and gusty winds.
Patna is also expected to experience hot and humid weather on Thursday, with temperatures likely to hover between 39°C and 40°C. Residents can expect strong sunshine and warm winds during the day, although cloud cover in the evening may provide some relief.
