Patna: Preparations are underway to construct a high-tech toll plaza at Naugachia Zero Mile in Bhagalpur district on State Highway-58 (SH-58). The facility will collect user fees from vehicles travelling on the Naugachia-Bhatgama-Udakishunganj route.
The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) has issued a tender covering the civil construction of the plaza and installation of an Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system.
Rs 12.79 Crore Project
The project has an estimated cost of Rs 12.79 crore. The proposed toll plaza will be equipped to collect user fees digitally through FASTag and other electronic payment systems.
The selected agency will be responsible for constructing the plaza, installing the required hardware and software, making the ETC system operational, and providing operation and maintenance services.
The entire work has been assigned a three-month completion period.
Construction Tender To Open September 28
According to the BSRDCL tender, technical and financial bids for the construction and electronic toll collection system will be opened on September 28.
After the agency is selected, construction and installation of the ETC system will proceed within the stipulated three-month period.
Separate Agency For Toll Collection
BSRDCL has also started the process of appointing a separate agency to collect user fees from vehicles using the toll plaza.
The tender for toll collection is scheduled to open on October 6. The selected agency will collect fees according to the prescribed rates and rules and deposit the proceeds with the corporation through the established procedure.
Annual Collection Target Of Rs 11.31 Crore
BSRDCL has set an annual user-fee collection target of Rs 11.31 crore for the Naugachia Zero Mile toll plaza.
Once operational, the plaza will levy user fees on light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles travelling on SH-58 at the applicable rates. FASTag and other digital systems will be used to facilitate electronic toll collection.
