Bodh Gaya: An eight-year-old boy died in Sonu Bigha village under Bodh Gaya police station in Gaya district after a rasgulla reportedly became lodged in his throat while he was running after eating it.

The incident took place on Sunday night, leaving the child’s family devastated and the village in mourning. The boy was identified as Shivam Kumar, son of Sonu Bigha resident Bachchu Yadav. He was the only brother of two sisters.

Child Fell While Running After Eating Rasgulla

According to the family, Shivam had taken a rasgulla kept at home and began running after eating it. His mother had reportedly asked him not to eat the sweet.

While running, the child stumbled and fell, after which his condition began to deteriorate. The family immediately took him to the Bodh Gaya Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical treatment.

Doctors provided initial treatment at the CHC and subsequently referred the child to Magadh Medical College and Hospital for further care.

Child Died Before Reaching Hospital

According to the family, the child died before reaching the hospital.

The incident has left his parents and other family members devastated. Relatives were reportedly inconsolable following his death.

Village Mourns The Child’s Death

The news of Shivam’s death spread through Sonu Bigha village, where residents expressed shock over the incident.

The child’s death has also highlighted the importance of ensuring that young children sit down while eating and are supervised during meals, particularly when consuming foods that may pose a choking risk.
