Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda arrived in Patna late on Wednesday evening, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Nitish Kumar, who will take office as Bihar’s Chief Minister for the tenth time.
Both leaders were welcomed at Patna airport by senior BJP functionaries before proceeding to a private hotel, where they are staying overnight. Shah and Nadda are scheduled to attend the ceremony at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan on Thursday morning, where extensive security and logistical arrangements have been completed.
Their arrival marks the beginning of what is expected to be a high-profile gathering of national political figures. Several chief ministers, including Madhya Pradesh’s Mohan Yadav, Tripura’s Manik Saha and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, reached Patna shortly before Shah and Nadda.
Grand ceremony planned
The oath-taking ceremony will see an unusually large lineup of senior leaders from across the NDA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the delegation of Union ministers and chief ministers attending the event.
Other dignitaries expected at Gandhi Maidan include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and several others.
Nitish Kumar’s return to office for a tenth term marks a significant political moment for Bihar, with Gandhi Maidan set to host one of the state’s largest swearing-in ceremonies in recent years.
