Patna: Bihar’s state government has unveiled plans for a major recruitment drive in the sports sector, offering opportunities across 824 positions for aspiring candidates. The move, officials say, aims to strengthen the state’s sports infrastructure and provide direct employment to qualified youth.
The recruitment will cover posts ranging from officers and sports clerks to trainers. The Sports Department has submitted recommendations to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), and Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) to facilitate the appointments.
Key positions include 33 posts in the Sports Service Cadre Officer category, 379 posts for Sports Trainers, 53 lower division clerk positions, and 81 roles at Rajgir Sports Academy, comprising both trainers and clerks. In addition, 301 posts will be filled at the Bihar State Sports Authority in Patna.
Officials noted that 380 posts have already been approved under the Bihar Sports Subordinate Service Cadre, with 379 still vacant. Proposals for direct recruitment on these positions have been sent to the BSSC, and the process is expected to begin soon.
The department has emphasised that all 379 Sports Trainer positions will be filled through direct recruitment. Meanwhile, 44 new posts have been created in the Sports Service Cadre for officers, 11 of which will be filled via promotion and 33 through direct recruitment. The newly formed Clerk Service Cadre in the department includes 80 posts, with 53 currently vacant. Other vacancies include 10 lower-class clerk positions and 48 trainer roles across various sports.
