Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will begin the online application process for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026 on August 17, board chairman Dr Thiyagarajan SM said.
The Education Department has approved the conduct of the examination, according to the board. A detailed advertisement containing information about the examination will be published in newspapers on August 14.
Exam Date Yet To Be Announced
The BSEB has not yet announced the date for the STET 2026 examination. The test is conducted once a year for candidates seeking eligibility for secondary-level teaching positions in Bihar.
The previous STET examination was conducted between October 14 and October 31, 2025. Its results were declared on January 5, 2026.
2025 Exam Had 16 Subjects
In 2025, the STET was conducted through a computer-based test (CBT) across 16 subjects. A total of 4,42,214 candidates appeared for the examination, of whom 2,56,301 qualified.
The overall pass percentage was 62.56%, according to the examination data.
The 2025 examination consisted of multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying one mark. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Expected Exam Pattern
Reports indicate that the STET 2026 examination is likely to follow a similar pattern, although the BSEB has not officially confirmed the details yet.
The examination is expected to have 150 questions carrying a total of 150 marks. Of these, 100 marks are likely to be allocated to subject-specific knowledge, while the remaining 50 marks may cover teaching methodology and other competencies.
