Patna: The Bihar Special Task Force (STF) is set to get an integrated headquarters at Lodipur in Patna, with the proposed G+5 building estimated to cost Rs 63.11 crore.
The headquarters will be constructed on a 0.75-acre plot and is intended to bring officers and personnel of different ranks under one roof. Three firms have submitted tenders for the project, and the lowest bidder will be selected before construction begins.
Why Bihar STF Needs An Integrated Headquarters
The STF currently does not operate from a single integrated building. According to officials, SP- and DSP-rank officers work from separate locations, which can create difficulties in coordination, paperwork and operational activities.
The proposed headquarters is expected to bring these offices and support facilities together within the same complex.
What The New Building Will Have
The proposed G+5 building will include facilities for STF officers, staff and teams visiting Patna for operations.
A basement parking facility for 50 vehicles, including four-wheelers and two-wheelers, is planned. The ground floor will include accommodation for night watchmen, security personnel and other staff.
Offices for SP- and DSP-rank officers will be located across the first to fourth floors, along with storerooms and other administrative facilities.
Holding Cell For Arrested Accused
One of the proposed facilities is a holding cell for arrested accused persons.
At present, the STF does not have its own holding facility. According to officials, arrested persons have to be kept at nearby police stations, which can complicate arrangements for interrogation, documentation and security.
The proposed holding cell is expected to allow the STF to manage such requirements within its own headquarters.
Guest House And Wellness Centre
The fifth floor is proposed to house a guest house, kitchen and drawing room, along with a yoga and wellness centre.
The guest house will provide accommodation for STF teams arriving from other districts and states for operational assignments, allowing them to stay within the headquarters complex.
Rainwater Harvesting And Water Treatment
The proposed complex will also include water treatment and rainwater harvesting systems.
Internal roads will facilitate movement within the premises, while the building is planned to have modern facilities including internet connectivity.
