Darbhanga: Bihar is set to strengthen its specialised crime-fighting infrastructure with a new regional headquarters for the Special Task Force (STF), with the proposed site already inspected by senior district officials.
The permanent STF facility is planned at Godhiyari Mauza in Hanumannagar block, where the process of identifying and measuring the land has been completed. Formalities for land allotment are expected to be completed soon, after which construction work can move forward.
The regional headquarters is expected to give the STF a stronger operational presence in North Bihar, particularly in dealing with organised crime and other serious criminal activities.
Senior Officials Inspect Proposed Site
The proposed site was inspected on August 31, 2026, by Darbhanga District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Jagunath Reddy Jalareddy.
During the inspection, officials assessed the physical condition, available area and suitability of the land for the proposed STF facility.
A government surveyor, or amin, also carried out measurements to verify the boundaries and actual area of the land.
Engineers from the Building Construction Department discussed the infrastructure requirements and technical aspects of the proposed headquarters with the district administration.
Why A Regional STF Base Matters
The STF is responsible for handling specialised operations involving organised crime and other serious criminal activities.
At present, major STF operations in different parts of Bihar require coordination with the unit’s existing headquarters. A regional base could bring specialised personnel and operational resources closer to areas where quick intervention is required.
The proposed facility could therefore help reduce the time needed to coordinate and respond to major criminal cases in North Bihar.
Focus On Organised Crime And Serious Offences
The regional headquarters is expected to strengthen the STF’s ability to conduct operations against organised criminal networks and other serious offences.
A permanent operational base could also improve coordination between the STF and district-level police units.
With specialised personnel available closer to the region, information gathering, planning and execution of operations could become more efficient.
Land Allotment Process Next
The proposed site has already undergone physical inspection and measurement.
The next major step is the completion of land allotment formalities, following which construction of the permanent STF regional headquarters can begin.
The facility is expected to become an important part of Bihar’s broader effort to strengthen specialised policing and improve its response to serious criminal activity.
The move also signals an effort to expand specialised police infrastructure beyond the state capital and create stronger regional operational capabilities.
