Patna: The Bihar Education Department has reopened the e-Shiksha portal from 4pm today, allowing teachers across the state to apply for mutual transfers. The portal will remain active for one month, giving educators ample time to complete the process without haste, Education Minister Sunil Kumar confirmed.
The move offers a second chance to teachers who missed out during the last transfer window. Mutual transfers enable two teachers of the same cadre and subject to swap postings by mutual agreement, subject to departmental approval. Both teachers must apply jointly on the portal to initiate the process.
Applications must be submitted through the e-Shiksha Kosh platform, and will only be accepted if both parties have provided their consent. The initiative is expected to benefit a large number of teachers seeking postings closer to home or in preferred locations.
In a parallel development, the Education Department is also implementing the e-service book system for all categories of teaching and non-teaching staff, including librarians. The digital records will include educational and training certificates, biometric attendance logs, and service histories.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, Dr S Siddharth, issued an order on Wednesday mandating the digitisation process. Officials stated that discrepancies found in uploaded documents could lead to disciplinary action against the concerned personnel.
