Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) celebrated its 17th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and grandeur, commemorating its journey of academic excellence, pioneering research, and remarkable innovation.
The ceremony took place in the Senate Hall, where the celebrations commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
Professor T. N. Singh, Director, IIT Patna, extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests and congratulated the faculty members, students, staff, alumni, and their families. In his inspiring address, he urged the IIT Patna community to aim high and remain committed to their goals.
“Through dedication, devotion, and discipline, be an example of yourself,” said Prof. Singh. “Review yourself and compete with yourself to become a better version of who you are.”
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Shri P. K. Tiwari (IAS), Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Government of India, in his address emphasized the importance of collaborative effort in achieving excellence and it is a proud moment for IIT Patna to inaugurate the Students Chapter of BIS. This initiative will strengthen the bridge between academic learning and national standards, helping to shape students into future-ready professionals.
The BIS Students Chapter and the BIS Corner were formally inaugurated by P. K. Tiwari & Prof T N singh in the esteemed presence of other dignitaries including Chandrakesh Singh, Scientist & Director, BIS Patna; Kaushik Dutta, Director, BIS Lab, Patna; Dr. P. K. Tiwari, Associate Dean (SA); and Prof. Dinesh Kumar Kotnish, Associate Dean Faculty Affairs and HoDs, staff and students.
The celebrations were further enlivened by a vibrant cultural performance by students, which captivated the audience and created a festive atmosphere.
The event concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting in the presence of the chief guest, IIT Patna Director, faculty, staff, and students. The entire IIT Patna community shared the joy of this important day.
