Patna: The Bihar government has initiated a major recruitment drive to fill 1,239 teaching positions across engineering and polytechnic colleges, officials said.
Deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary announced that a requisition has been sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for the appointments.
Break-Up Of Vacancies
According to officials, the recruitment includes 966 posts in engineering colleges and 273 posts in polytechnic institutions across the state.
The announcement was made during a press conference at Suchna Bhawan, where the government outlined achievements of the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education.
Push For Technical Education
Chaudhary said the move is part of a broader effort to strengthen technical education in Bihar, reducing the need for students to seek education outside the state.
Officials said improving faculty strength is expected to enhance academic standards and institutional capacity.
Focus On Placements
Department secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh said engineering colleges in the state are already witnessing improved placement outcomes, with some students securing packages of up to Rs 25 lakh.
He added that the new recruitment will further improve the quality of education and expand opportunities for students.
Next Steps
The recruitment process will be carried out through the BPSC, with detailed notifications expected to be issued in due course.
Authorities said the initiative is aimed at aligning Bihar’s technical institutions with growing industry demands and creating better career prospects for the state’s youth.
