Patna: The Patna district education office has restarted the long-pending transfer process for schoolteachers following the end of the model code of conduct, preparing a list of 1,290 staff who will be moved to new postings across the district by late November.
District education officer Saket Ranjan said the transfer exercise, stalled in October due to election restrictions, would begin shortly. Officials will allocate schools based on applications received, with teachers suffering from cancer, kidney disease, heart and liver ailments, and those with disabilities placed at the top of the priority list under existing guidelines.
The compiled list includes 220 such teachers, who will be accommodated first when the new postings are finalised.
Renewal of Services for 20 Guest Teachers at Patna University
In a parallel development, Patna University has renewed the services of 20 guest assistant professors for an additional 11 months. The extensions cover multiple departments: three in sociology, five in economics, seven in physics and five in geography.
The renewals follow months of agitation. In July, the Patna University Guest Faculty Forum staged an indefinite sit-in before the then vice-chancellor Ajay Kumar Singh, demanding the continuation of services for 32 guest assistant professors who had earlier been excluded.
The forum had accused the university administration of deliberately withholding renewals. It has now thanked the governor and university authorities for addressing the grievance, expressing relief that the long-standing demands were finally met.
The list of renewed faculty includes Sandhya Kumari, Aslama Parveen, Madhavi, Ravindra Bhushan, Deepali Kumari, Divya Kumari Gupta, Pooja Agrawal, Marzia Mosharraf, Praveen Kumar Vishwakarma, Kamad Nath Shandilya, Tinku Kumar, Mukesh, Jagannath Panjiar, Krishan Kant Dwivedi, Gargi Tiwari, Munna Manish Kumar, Nirupama Surabhi, Babita Sharma, Ashok Sahni and Akhtar Abid Ali.
