Bettiah: A 17-year-old student in Bihar died by suicide on Thursday night in a shocking incident. The girl, Nandini Verma, was an intermediate student and lived with her family in Balkrishna Colony near the new bus stand. She hanged herself from the fan in her room late at night. Her father, Sanjay Kumar Verma, and other family members are in deep shock.
Family members said that everyone had gone to sleep after dinner. Around midnight, Nandini’s father received a call on his mobile. The caller told him that Nandini was committing suicide and asked him to save her quickly. Hearing this, the family rushed to her room. The door was locked from inside and Nandini did not answer their calls.
They broke open the door and saw her hanging from the fan. The family brought her down and took her to the Government Medical College Hospital. However, doctors declared her dead. The city police took her body into custody at around 1:55am for post-mortem. The reason behind her suicide is still not known.
Police are now trying to find out who made the call and how that person knew what was happening. After the incident, the number from which the call came has been switched off. City SHO Manoj Kumar Singh said that the case is being investigated from all angles and the post-mortem report will help in finding the truth.
