Patna: The Narendra Modi government has allocated Rs. 1.43 lakh crore to Bihar from central taxes for the financial year 2025-26. This amount accounts for 10 percent of the total central tax revenue and marks an increase of Rs. 14,000 crore from last year’s Rs. 1.29 lakh crore. Bihar will receive Rs. 11,923 crore every month, and the state government has the autonomy to utilize these funds as per its priorities.
Uttar Pradesh has received the highest share of 17 percent, amounting to Rs. 2.55 lakh crore, while Bihar ranks second. The increased funds are expected to impact the state’s budget, estimated at Rs. 3.06 lakh crore. The Bihar government plans to create around six lakh government jobs in the upcoming financial year, with a major focus on recruitment in police and education departments. It is claimed that three lakh jobs will be provided before the elections and the remaining after the new government is formed.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar welcomed the budget, stating that initiatives like the Makhana Board and Greenfield airports would boost the state’s economy. He highlighted the importance of the Western Kosi Canal project for farmers in Mithila and the expansion of IIT Patna for promoting technical education.
