Patna/Jamui: The aftermath of a freight train derailment in Jamui district continued to impact major routes across Bihar on Monday, with the Indian Railways forced to cancel 12 services and divert 49 others. The incident occurred on the Asansol division between Lahaban and Simultala stations, and rail traffic has yet to be restored on the affected stretch.
The disruption has hit the busy Howrah–Patna corridor, with the Howrah division cancelling several trains scheduled for December 29 and 30. According to railway officials, operations remain suspended while restoration work is underway.
Among the affected services, the Patna–Howrah Vande Bharat Express was diverted via Gayaji for a second consecutive day. Twelve trains originating from or passing through Patna were also rerouted.
