Patna: The Bihar government will make the transfer and posting policy for around 6,00,000 teachers more transparent, in an effort to reduce administrative difficulties and improve efficiency in the education system.
The directive was issued on Tuesday by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary during a review meeting with officials from the state education department in Patna.
He instructed officials to further strengthen the transparency of the software system used for managing teacher transfers and postings. Emphasising post-recruitment capacity building, he said teacher training should be prioritised as it directly impacts the quality of education delivered in classrooms.
The meeting was attended by senior education officials, including the director of primary education, Vikram Virkar, who presented updates on ongoing initiatives. These included the rollout of model schools across all blocks, the transfer policy framework, the Library Eligibility Test, the PM-SHRI Nutrition Scheme, textbook distribution, and partnerships with NGOs.
The deputy chief minister reiterated that ensuring quality education for children remains the government’s central objective. “Every policy, technology or training initiative must ultimately contribute to improving learning outcomes,” he said.
He also urged teachers to carry out their responsibilities with seriousness and regularity, stressing that attendance during working hours must be strictly enforced and any negligence in teaching duties would not be tolerated.
Choudhary further called for periodic evaluations of education programmes run in collaboration with NGOs to assess their effectiveness and impact. He directed officials to regularly review recruitment processes, training modules, classroom observations and skill development programmes, and to measure improvements in educational quality resulting from these interventions.
