Patna: The district administration in Patna has revised school timings for the second consecutive day as rising temperatures and intense afternoon heat continue to affect the city.
Under the new order, all government and private schools from primary level to Class 5, along with Anganwadi centres, will now operate only until 11:30am. Classes up to Class 8 will remain open until 12:30pm.
The revised schedule will remain in force from April 22 to April 25 as a temporary precautionary measure against the heatwave conditions.
Earlier, classes for younger students had already been suspended after 12:30pm on Monday. Following continued high temperatures, the administration announced a further reduction in school hours.
The order was issued by Tyagarajan SM under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023.
School managements have been directed to adjust their schedules accordingly and ensure that teaching activities are conducted during cooler morning hours.
Officials said the move was taken in the interest of children’s health and safety, with authorities closely monitoring weather conditions in the city.
