Patna: The fourth phase of Bihar’s teacher recruitment process (TRE 4) has moved a step closer, with the Education Department submitting a proposal for 32,388 teaching vacancies to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The Commission is expected to issue the official recruitment notification in the coming weeks, after which the online application process will begin.
According to the proposal, appointments will be made in primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools across Bihar. The largest share of vacancies has been proposed for Plus-Two (Classes 11–12) schools, with Chemistry accounting for the highest number of posts.
32,388 Posts Proposed Across Four School Levels
According to the Education Department, the recruitment drive will cover teaching positions for Classes 1–5, Classes 6–8, Classes 9–10 and Classes 11–12. A total of 3,847 posts have been proposed for primary schools, 8,563 posts for middle schools, 3,877 posts for secondary schools and 16,101 posts for higher secondary schools. The BPSC will conduct the recruitment process after issuing the official notification.
Highest Vacancies in Plus-Two Schools
A total of 16,101 posts have been proposed for higher secondary schools across 22 subjects. The highest number of vacancies has been allocated for Chemistry (3,695), followed by Physics (1,758), English (1,321), Botany (1,078) and Psychology (1,030).
Among the subjects with the fewest vacancies are Entrepreneurship (58), Accountancy (66), Philosophy (80) and Business Studies (133). The proposal indicates greater recruitment opportunities for science graduates in this phase.
Secondary School Vacancies
For Classes 9 and 10, the department has proposed 3,877 posts. The highest vacancies are in Social Science (756), followed by English (696), Urdu (660), Mathematics (570) and Science (463).
Primary School Recruitment
The proposal includes 3,847 vacancies for primary schools. Of these, 3,065 posts are for General Subjects, 757 posts for Urdu and 25 posts for Bengali.
Middle School Vacancies
For Classes 6 to 8, 8,563 posts have been proposed. The largest number of vacancies is in Science and Mathematics (2,188), followed by English (1,929), Sanskrit (1,225), Social Science (1,190), Hindi (1,096) and Urdu (935). Science and English account for the highest number of vacancies at this level.
Districts with More Vacancies
According to the proposal, districts with a larger number of schools have been allotted more vacancies. These include Patna, East Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Samastipur, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Saran and Purnia.
In comparison, fewer vacancies have been proposed for Sheikhpura, Sheohar, Arwal, Lakhisarai and Jamui.
Vacancies Revised in Some Categories
The Education Department has revised the requisition for certain categories. For Classes 9–10, the proposed vacancies have been reduced from 9,083 to 3,877, while for Classes 11–12, the number has been revised from 16,774 to 16,101. Despite these revisions, the department has retained the overall proposal for more than 32,000 teacher appointments.
BPSC Notification Awaited
The Education Department has forwarded the vacancy proposal to the BPSC, which is expected to publish the official recruitment advertisement soon. The notification will include details on eligibility, application dates, examination pattern, selection procedure and reservation guidelines. Candidates have been advised to continue their preparations and wait for the official notification before submitting their applications.
