Patna: Bihar’s Chief Secretary, Pratyaya Amrit, has inaugurated a new initiative, ‘Udyog Varta’, aimed at accelerating industrial investment in the state and providing a direct platform for investors to engage with government officials.
The programme allows investors to meet the Chief Secretary personally, without prior appointments, every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm. Senior officials, including the Secretary of the Industries Department, Kundan Kumar, Director Mukul Kumar Gupta, and Energy Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, will also be present for these discussions.
According to the state government, Udyog Varta will serve as a one-stop solution for businesses looking to invest in Bihar or facing challenges while establishing operations. From next week, meetings will be held at the Directorate of Aircraft Organisation near Patna Airport to facilitate participation by foreign investors.
On its inaugural day, several prominent investors, both domestic and international, expressed strong interest in the state. Many cited a desire to contribute to Bihar’s development while addressing local migration challenges and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
Kislay Singh, founder of Tensor Analytics, announced plans to invest in data integration projects, aiming to return to Bihar from Washington, DC, to contribute to regional development. Mahesh Kumar, CEO of Tiger Analytics, joined via video link from the United States, highlighting the potential for Bihar to emerge as a hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and technology-driven industries. Other investors, including Harshvardhan Kumar of Avisys Services, Rajesh Kumar of Dalmia Cement, and Sushil K. Singh of Sealink Fire and Safety LLP, committed to future investments in the state.
Chief Secretary Amrit welcomed the investors and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting industrial development. “The ‘Industry Dialogue’ will allow us to work directly with serious investors. Any new policies or amendments needed to facilitate investment will be implemented promptly,” he said.
The Bihar government has emphasised its ambition to transform the state from a primarily agricultural economy into a centre for emerging industries such as IT and AI. Officials say Udyog Varta marks a significant step towards positioning Bihar among the country’s leading industrial states.
