Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau has launched raids at multiple premises linked to Assistant Engineer Nagendra Kumar of the Rural Works Department in Bihar, after registering a case of disproportionate assets.
Three separate teams of investigators searched his rented flat in Patna’s North Srikrishnapuri, his office in Mokama, and his ancestral home in Kujaap village of Gayaji district on Friday evening. The searches are expected to continue late into the night.
According to officials, Nagendra is accused of possessing assets worth Rs 73.32 lakh, which is 125.69% higher than his declared sources of income. The case, registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, could lead to further charges if additional evidence of illicit earnings is uncovered.
Investigators also found documents suggesting landholdings and properties in Bihar and other states, along with evidence of a construction-related factory in Bihar and Odisha believed to be operated in partnership. The bureau indicated that more cases may be filed as inquiries expand.
