Patna: Only six days remain for the completion of Bihar’s special intensive voter list revision, and verification of 32,23,023 voters is still pending. This figure represents 4.08% of the state’s total 7,89,68,844 voters.
So far, 95.92% or 7,57,46,821 voters have been verified. Officials revealed that around 10% of these were found absent from their registered addresses, including voters who are deceased, permanently transferred, enrolled at multiple locations, or untraceable.
The Election Commission is intensifying efforts to verify the remaining voters. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have attempted contact more than three times, and an organised push has begun, involving repeat visits by BLOs to reach those left out. For urban voters, special camps are being set up across all 5,683 wards in 261 urban local bodies.
Despite the tight deadline, names can still be added, corrected, or removed after the draft publication on August 1 until the final list closes on August 30. Voters, political parties, and their appointed BLAs can submit claims and objections during this period.
In Patna district, six lakh voters are pending verification, while over 44 lakh have already been verified. Camps were organised at over 4,000 polling stations on Saturday, verifying more than one lakh voters in a single day. Digha assembly constituency has the highest pending verification of one lakh voters, whereas Barh has completed most of its verification work.
Districts leading in digital uploads of counting forms include Khagaria (92.60%), Sheikhpura (91.89%), Kaimur (91.46%), Arwal (91.33%), Jehanabad (91.13%), and Lakhisarai (91.03%). Gopalganj remains the lowest performer with only 82.12% uploaded.
The Election Commission is also reaching out to voters who have migrated temporarily to other states to ensure their inclusion in the updated electoral rolls.
