Patna: The monsoon is expected to regain momentum across Bihar, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an Orange Alert for 12 districts on Monday, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph.
According to the IMD, rainfall activity is set to intensify across the state over the coming days, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing heat and humidity. Intermittent rain is expected to continue across Bihar for the next 10 days.
Apart from the 12 districts under the Orange Alert, most parts of the remaining 26 districts are likely to witness cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall.
The weather department has also forecast a gradual drop in temperatures over the next few days, which is expected to ease the oppressive heat and humid conditions experienced across the state.
During the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in seven districts, including Patna. Supaul and Begusarai remained under overcast skies throughout the day.
Rohtas emerged as the hottest district in Bihar, recording a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, while Patna’s maximum temperature hovered around 35 degrees Celsius.
Why the Monsoon Has Become Active Again
Meteorologists attributed the renewed monsoon activity to a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, coupled with an active monsoon trough. These weather systems are transporting abundant moisture into Bihar and other parts of eastern India, creating favourable conditions for widespread rainfall.
Experts said the influence of this system is expected to increase thunderstorm and rainfall activity across the state over the next several days.
Patna Weather Forecast
Patna is expected to remain cloudy throughout Monday, with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers likely during the day. The maximum temperature is forecast to remain between 32°C and 33°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 27°C and 28°C. The IMD has also warned of the possibility of lightning.
Monsoon Outlook for the Next 10 Days
Weather experts expect the monsoon to remain active across Bihar over the next seven to ten days, with several districts likely to receive widespread rainfall. However, despite the expected wet spell, the overall forecast for July continues to indicate below-normal rainfall across the state.
