Patna: Weather conditions are likely to change across Bihar, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain in several parts of the state and issuing a yellow alert for 20 districts. Strong winds are also likely in some areas, while an alert has been issued for the possibility of lightning.
According to the weather department, most parts of Bihar may receive heavy rainfall on August 29. The spell of rain is expected to continue in the state until September 1, bringing some relief from the prevailing humidity and rainfall deficit.
In the past 24 hours, Sasaram recorded heavy rainfall, resulting in waterlogging at several locations. In Patna, the sky remained cloudy throughout the day, while residents experienced humid conditions.
Supaul recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 36.2°C.
Bihar records 42% rainfall deficit
Bihar has received significantly less rainfall than normal during the ongoing monsoon season. The state has recorded 434.4 mm of rainfall against the normal 749.8 mm, resulting in a deficit of 315.4 mm, or 42% so far.
The expected increase in rainfall activity over the coming days could help reduce the deficit to some extent.

According to the IMD forecast, between August 29 and 31, the maximum temperature in Patna is expected to remain around 34°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 28°C.

The change in weather conditions is primarily linked to increased monsoon activity. Strengthening monsoonal activity over eastern India is bringing more moisture-laden winds into Bihar, favouring cloud formation and rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The IMD has forecast increased monsoon activity over Bihar between August 26 and September 1, which could result in rainfall across several parts of the state.
